Marie Tharp's Floor of the Oceans map

Marie Tharp (with Bruce Heezen) created the first accurate map of the ocean floor, a project started in the 1950s. Its creation helped the scientific community embrace theories of plate tectonics and continental drift. This map was first published commercially in 1977, but is still relevant today. The islands, ocean crests, trenches and continental shelves are highly illustrated!
