National Geographic's Trails Illustrated map Desolation & Granite Chief Wilderness Areas shows an area of California directly west of Lake Tahoe. The north side of the map covers from Squaw Valley Ski Resort and Meadows State Game Refuge, through the Granite Chief Wilderness area down to Loon Lake. The south portion shows the Desolation Wilderness and part of the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit includig the southwest shore of the lake and trails through the Sierra Nevada.
