William O. Douglas & Norse Peak Wilderness Map

The William O. Douglas Wilderness includes 166,000 acres located between White Pass (Hwy 12) and Chinook Pass (Hwy 410) in the Washington Cascades, east of Mt. Rainier.  It shares a boundary with the Mt. Rainier National Park on the West.  Approximately 25 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail travel along the Cascade crest between its boundaries.  Former U.S. Suprem Court Justice William Orville Douglas spent many summers at his cabin in Goose Prairie, a small community surrounded by the present wilderness.
