Shasta Trinity National Forest

The Shasta Trinity National Forest provides plenty of camping opportunities- in the alpine areas, along the Trinity River, or on Shasta Lake- the largest human-made lake in California.  Mt Shasta is a 14.162 foot high dormant volcano. Also in the National Forest is the Trinity Alps area that contains about 100 remote lakes and over 50 peaks above 7,000 feet in elevation, thus earning the nickname "the alps."
